Grounded Electrical Construction has been awarded a 2019 Merit Award for Excellence in Construction by ABC Baltimore for our "The Collection" project in Chevy Chase, MD. The Collection was renovated in phases to include upscale exterior lighting and controls, along with an outdoor amphitheater, multiple water features and new parking controls. The Collection is a high end retail destination for Chevy Chase and Washington D.C. residents that includes a complex underground parking garage, outdoor activity spaces as well as retail shopping. There are multiple areas of focus for The Collection, all with their own unique features. These areas include an outdoor amphitheater with (2) 40' site pole lights, multiple water feature plazas, and lighted canopy. All of the work on this project was performed while the facility was occupied and operational, so phasing played a critical role. To truly understand the technical complexity of this project, all you need to do is walk around the underground parking garage and get lost, which isn't hard to do. All of the site lighting, power and low voltage infrastructure had to be fed from the underground garage to conceal all raceways from the main plaza, which required pin point accuracy when penetrating the garage for these raceways.
