White Marsh Mall, Generator & Switchgear Replacement

White Marsh Mall, Generator & Switchgear Replacement

Location: Baltimore, MD

Completed: June 2014

Grounded Electrical Construction was contracted to replace the Mall's Emergency Generator as well as the replacement of the 13.2kv Primary Switchgear. In order for the removal and replacement of the generator, Grounded and its subcontractors had to temporarily remove existing mechanical equipment due to size constraints. The project also included modifications to the air intake and exhaust systems to complete the installation. The switchgear replacement required Grounded to maintain power to White Marsh Mall 24/7 by use of temporary generators and scheduled fuel deliveries. Grounded provided four- 1000kw and one- 1500kw generators for this and through scheduled outages was able to maintain power to the mall so as to not interrupt the retail operations and allow the mall to remain open for business. Grounded's scope included temporary power and lighting for nighttime operations, expansion of concrete pad, additions and reconfiguration of duct banks per utility requirements, MV terminations and testing, road cutting and patching, rigging of old and new, safety and activity hazard analysis. The project was successfully completed without any unscheduled interruptions or delays.
